Full professor and researcher
Hug March Corbella is a Full Professor of Economic and Business Studies and researcher of the Urban Transformation and Global Change Laboratory (TURBA Lab) of the Open University of Catalonia’s (UOC) Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3). He has a degree in Environmental Studies from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB, 2005) and a PhD in Environmental Science also from the UAB (2010). March is an expert in sustainability and the ecological transition, urban ecological policy, water cycle management, and urban studies.
His academic work focuses on the fields of urban studies, geography, and urban ecological policy and contributes to understanding the different processes (technological, sociodemographic, politico-economic) that influence socio-environmental governance and the ecological transition.
Professor Hug March Corbella’s R&I work is centred on the analysis of new urban sustainability paradigms (smart cities, resilience, urban agriculture, etc.), the political ecology of the ecological transition, and changes in the governance and political economy of natural resources, with a special emphasis on water resources.
His main research interests lie in urban political ecology, urban water management, the political economy of the water cycle, management models and the emergence of new supply technology, and the intersection between the ecological and digital transitions within the context of climate change.
